Question re CA’s, their etiquette vs online sales

Hello,

I’ve encountered something today and wondered if it’s common…

I’ve reached out to my CA to pre order Alma BB X Murakami and she was not able to pre order but told me to reach out to her again this week or next week.
I saw it was available online so ordered it, then messaged her to let her know I have ordered it now but will be in touch for the next collection. She then messaged to say something along the lines of good for you, but I won’t be helping you anymore.

My overactive mind is thinking I’ve done something wrong and this is all my fault.
Is this an LV thing where you get ghosted if you buy online even if the item isn’t available with the CA? Is this standard etiquette to talk to customers like this??!!

That's very strange, when I gave my CA my wishlist, he showed me that some items were in stock in a nearby LV, and he actually encouraged me to go there instead! I insisted that I wanted to make the sale through him, but he said that for the TM collection, I should just try to get whatever pieces I want, any way I can (whether it's online or at another store).

Anywho, I did end up going to the other store, and I was able to buy one of the bags I wanted (it was the last one!). But I'll still go to him first with any other items I want because he was very honest with all the information. Sorry to hear your experience wasn't great with your CA, but I don't think that's the norm!

You did absolutely nothing wrong, I'd think it's sweet for someone to followup with me if I were an SA and they let me know they were able to procure what they wanted.

But, I must think the LV CA's are exhausted and overwhelmed. Imagine putting in a lot of energy and effort, taking potential other customers' abuse, having to give disappointing news to the nice customers, having the orders you placed cancelled...because LV screwed up the launch.

Not excusing what she said, but she may have cracked when she normally would not have said something so cold. I earnestly feel bad for them right now. It's possible she was counting on you to try to make a sale with her to reach her targets, not sure, but you are definitely free to chat with other CAs and they might even have more exclusive access or knowledge.

That's ridiculous. It's LV's own actions that cause customers to act this way.

Do what you need to do to get your items.

No matter how busy they are, it's no excuse for such behavior in a case like this. I think it's rude to send you a message like that. If a CA would speak to me like that and not apologize, I would be done with her and look for another one.
Many CAs would be happy to assist you and offer you a nice experience.
You did nothing wrong, you just wanted to make sure you would get your item. You tried with her first but she couldn't do a pre order. She only said to reach out to her again later. But that's not a guarantee that you would actually get the item you want. So what's wrong with ordering the item online once you saw it become available? Nothing!
You also let her know that you ordered it so please, don't feel bad.
Again, you did nothing wrong and I'm sorry to read that you had this experience. Find another CA who will be happy to assist you in a proper way .

Thank you all for your kind words, it makes me feel a bit better because honestly, I felt awful afterwards.
If she had said to me she could do a pre order and could order it for me, then I would have ordered from her.
I know this collection is super popular but I seriously think the CA's treat some customers like they don't matter. It's a lot of money and I get they're busy, but manners don't cost anything.
In hindsight, I didn't even have to let her know I had ordered it online but I guess I was trying to be polite about it.
Anyways, thanks for your reassurance and good luck to everyone trying to secure pieces.

It not you dear, it LV caused their own internal conflicts to make things hard on EVERYONE.
You did what you had to do as a consumer. Buy an item that was available through online than vs through the store.

That is insane. It isn’t like she told you she would get it for you and then you ordered it OL. She said she couldn’t. And it’s a LE, so there is a good chance it will sell out. What the heck?

I’d be tempted to respond with: “That’s a shame. Please forward the SM’s contact so I can arrange to work with another SA for future items.”

Exactly this! She didn’t order it for me so I had to get it from somewhere..!

Anyway, I don’t even want to message her anymore and she didn’t even bother replying to my last message where I’d explained it wasn’t intentional and I apologised if I’d offended her in any way.
Yeah I know, I’m prob too nice but I genuinely feel bad. My hubby was so shocked and said to me this is very childish and not professional at all!
This whole saga has completely put me off LV tbh, left a bitter taste in my mouth as though it’s OK to talk to customers like this. Luckily I’m not a fan of any of the other collections, so I’m safe as I feel my stress and anxiety has got so much worse during this time!

I’m so sorry this has turned you off. What a shame and what a jerk.
