I just received a bag from OFF Saks and I discovered rather than the second chain strap it should come with, it only came with the leather strap. Inside was this handwritten note instead of the strap.

Their customer service said they could not secure a chain for it and offered me the option to either return it or get an 10% discount. Unfortunately this is the last bag in this color (ginger) that I could find anywhere. I don’t think I would get another shot at this bag if I returned it.

I’ve already left a VM for the repair center at the NYC boutique to see what the options are or how much a chain strap might cost. I really love the bag but I’m bummed that it was sold as an incomplete set, which wasn’t noted.

While I’m waiting to hear back from their repair center, does anyone know what a chain strap might cost? Or where I might be able to find one on its own? All of my search results just turn up bags with chain straps, not the chain strap alone. :confused1:

I would personally just buy a chain strap from amazon or etsy. Theyre cheaper and lots of options to choose from.

I'm sorry. I don't know the cost of a chain strap alone nor do I know where to get a chain strap separately.

However, it depends on how badly you want the original chain. If you just want a chain strap then like @Xthgirl , it's probably better to go to Amazon or Etsy. If you prefer the original chain but love the bag enough to be okay with no chain strap, then just keep the bag.
I think it is a good idea to contact the boutique but personally I would not expect much unless they're like Fendi and normally sell straps separately.

Personally, I'm the kind of person who wants original items and I would not settle for this and just return the entire thing.

1) I'm assuming you paid full price for this item? So that means, you paid full price for an incomplete set and then get a hand-written note inside. Unacceptable and unprofessional IMO. Someone should have contacted you before the item was shipped.
2) If you bought this item on sale, still not worth it for me. There should be an even further reduced price on the this bag due to the missing strap from the beginning. Is the 10% discount a general discount for your next purchase? Or is it for the bag that you already paid for? If it's a 10% discount on your next purchase, not worth it for me because it doesn't solve the problem. If it's for this bag that you originally paid for, that's terrible customer service and a pain in the butt to go back and get an additional 10% off.

Just my thoughts. It's a bummer that there was no chain strap. Hope something works out!

Thanks for the input!

I agree sending it out with a handwritten note wasn’t cool. I’m sure someone grabbed it from a shelf at some retail location because they folded it in a dust bag and boxed it up with a pair of shoes I also got.

The bag was about 47% off retail so I paid $1760 instead of $3400. They said they would give me an additional 10% off of this bag, so they would refund me the 10%, making it $1580 for the bag.

Good point about an Etsy or Amazon strap - and I’m at least thankful it’s yellow gold because I tried finding a rose gold chain once and they’re basically pure copper in color.

They have the black version and the white version available (both are 51% off), but those colors don’t really do it for me.

That’s true - I am nervous about finding a color/tone match since my search for a rose gold chain was kind of a bust.

I haven’t heard back from their repair center yet. If I decide to keep the bag I’ll probably ask for more than 10% off but getting a quote for the chain from the repair center was to help negotiate that.
