Influencers and Hermes

I don’t know who this person is but from what I gather they paid for her air and hotel for a fragrance? A fragrance?! Just how many bottles would they have to sell to make up for this influencer event? It’s events like this that remind me how much luxury brands spend on influencers and marketing and most of us don’t ever get this type of benefit. What I’d like to see is h and other brands flying out clients who’ve been with them for a while and spent significant sums to show their appreciation for them. And some people say oh exclusive offers are the benefit. No they are not because every Tom dick Nancy Emily is getting a bag these days.
I thought on this earlier this year when I came across someone on YT who’s a Dior client and they flew her out, and some other (V)VIPs I assume, to either showcase a new collection they had or something else. And I thought about how I see and read things like this in regard to Chanel but never Hermes. Is it something Hermes don’t do at all? The closest I know of VVIPs for H are here on this group, or their friends, and no one ever mentions things like that. It’s kind of surprising if they don’t because I would think if those clients are used to that kind of treatment from other houses they would expect it from Hermes as well.

They do it because it's cheap marketing. Last year, it was reported that Timothée Chalamet was paid $35M to promote Bleu de Chanel. A brand trip is much, much cheaper, and they can get more returns per dollar if they select the right influencers. Whether this influencer will reach the right audience ... I'm not sure

The question I have is what's the profit margin on a $105 bottom of perfume that allows millions in marketing budget
I’ve read on line that it’s about a 90% or more markup and for every hundred dollars it appears as though one would be lucky to have 3 USD worth of raw material in a bottle, but in terms of influencers, I’m assuming that Hermes may simply just be very quiet about how they promote via social media. (Bottega used to be very quiet about it too). Beauty and fragrance is a huge business.

Perfume is the new makeup! Every brand is doing $$$$$ perfume ranges. Even Lancome has created a new spin off range @ $270 a bottle. These houses are getting their money. Perfume is the new collectable entry level peice. It used to be lipstick .

Influencers deal with H's PR company (Simply) not H. They will get the influencers of choice signed-off by H but it'll just be around a table with a nod. Simply are Dutch and have more global perspective.

It's obviously a deliberate choice to go with a certain lifestyle Isabel portrays and her and target demo. I can understand perfectly, at this point beauty influencers are seen as 'plastic'. H (and Simply) want someone that appears to be living a real life (even though it's an edited editorial version).

100% And/ Or portraying a fake lifestyle?

To me it's all smoke and mirrors. I take all words, deeds and PR of public figures, celebrities and/or influences with a pinch of salt.

Authentic is the last word I would use for someone that puts their entire life(style) on line and advises their 'followers'. I almost prefer straight up beauty peddlers with their time stamps, sponsorships, affiliate links and coupon codes.

Yep! Not just with "influencers l" IMO...including the members that post in the private FB groups..majority of the time, I find it hard to believe their stories..like the one was just caught for fraud. I was like how is she getting all these bags! Lol.

Are people even paying attention to “influencers” anymore? Aren’t they all really plastic? All just smoke and mirrors? When I see them pushing items it makes me want to buy them even less. On the other hand, Julia Roberts or K-pop stars doing ads? I’m interested.
