Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the new Hermès 2025 Spring/Summer "Chaine d'Ancre Compose" jacket (item code H5E0177DEDO) from an Hermès boutique. I was so excited to finally bring it home, but when I had a closer look, I noticed something funny (and a little puzzling) about it.

The jacket’s collar has a beautiful printed pattern, but it’s stitched on the inside instead of the outside, as shown in the official photos! 😅 I even double-checked my receipt and confirmed that the item code on the jacket matches the one on my purchase receipt (H5E0177DEDO), so it’s definitely the correct product.

Here’s what my jacket looks like:

And this is how it’s supposed to look (based on official photos):

Since I bought this directly from the boutique and not online, I’m starting to wonder—could this be a rare production error, or is it some kind of hidden design twist that I’m just not aware of?

I honestly find the situation pretty funny, but I’d love to know if anyone else has encountered something similar with Hermès or other luxury brands. Do you think I should bring this up with the boutique, or should I just embrace it as a quirky "limited edition" feature?

Thanks in advance! 😊

Agree with @A1aGypsy, I actually prefer the version you got! I think it’s a timeless/cleaner look with a nice subtle H reference only when you pop the collar up…aside from the chaine d’ancee zipper pull…which is also a nice detail I love about your jacket. It would be nice to know H production process but I hope you still enjoy your lovely jacket!

There were two 'versions' of the same silk scarf (same code) issued with slightly differing colours from different batches. Nobody ever got to the bottom of that.

I had a similar issue with a mousseline. I just assumed they'd changed the design during production.

JPOC, I love your jacket, and more so as you received! :flowers:

There's one in my store in a dark navy, I think bleu marine, and it has the design on the underside of the collar like yours. I believe it's meant to be that way (and tbh I like it better). I would have purchased if it had fit me, it's a very nice piece.

Thank you for sharing! However, the one you saw is actually the "Chaine d'Ancre" jacket (Product reference: H5E0176DEH5), which is a different product. Mine is the "Chaine d'Ancre Compose" jacket (Product reference: H5E0177DEDO). They’re very similar, but the product codes are different.

It’s definitely a beautiful piece, though! Too bad the one you tried didn’t fit—it’s such a standout design!

Not sure if it's supposed to be a different design or a manufacturing error with yours though.

Shoots use samples, and are done months ahead of final production. It was either a mistake on the prototype or possibly someone changed it ahead of production. I certainly don't think the one you received is a mistake, as @leechiyong pointed out the same range has them sewn that way.

As others have said, yours is aesthetically more harmonious and more in-keeping with the rest of the collection. Congratulation on your beautiful piece.

This feels like an editing error with the online image to me. The motif is too faded to be an intentional design decision from Hermès. I also don’t see Hermès placing the motif in this way only on the collar. It would be printed on the lining and would likely be more prominent bc linings are traditionally where even understated brands “let loose”.

As others have said, your jacket is correctly constructed and to me looks better too. Traditionally, the undercollar is made of a basic wool felt bc it isn’t seen and just needs to provide shaping and structure. Hermès added to its value by including the chaine d’ancre motif, making a traditionally boring feature of outerwear aesthetically pleasing and in line with its style codes.

With that said, I’d send a note to H online, pointing out the discrepancy.

I'm not sure how you know which one I saw?? It looked very much like the one you posted 🤷‍♀️

It’s on their website, so it’s not exactly rocket science to figure out! 😂 The "Chaine d'Ancre" jacket (Product reference: H5E0176DEH5) is the one in bleu marine with the print on the underside of the collar, not on top. Mine is the "Chaine d'Ancre Compose" jacket (Product reference: H5E0177DEDO), which is a different piece altogether.

Hope that clears it up!

So I just saw this jacket in store and it looks the way yours does! So they’re probably all like that!
