our cats are strictly indoors but I had fleas years ago on an indoor-only cat so I use Advantage on our kitties in the summer. My boy hates it. He gets the idea I want to catch him and put it on and runs from me. Last night I thought I had him. He was standing still waiting for a treat. I tried to grab him and he got loose. I don't like subjecting him to that but don't want a flea infestation.
Do you treat your indoor cats for fleas?

My 3 cats are indoor only, they've never had fleas (even our dogs who go to the park and socialise with other dogs, never had them).
I don't treat them for fleas and don't see the point if they don't have fleas.

My technique when I was much younger (early teens) was to feed my family's cat and when they were eating gently pin them between my legs and dose the liquid on the back of their neck. They were so distracted by the food it was too late for them to run.

I also have 3 indoor only cats and do not treat for fleas. I did initially when I got my first two kittens only because one of them came with fleas šŸ˜ƒ. But once it was eradicated I realized I didnā€™t need to keep spending lots of money on them because they were just never going to pick up anymore. Never had issues for years.

I finally got the Advantage on him when he was sitting on the windowsill. Took about five days of trying. If it wasn't for the experience I had with an indoor cat being infested, I'd stop doing this. For now I'll just do in hot weather. So maybe one more month.

I've never used flea treatments on our cats, which have all been strictly indoor cats. However, several have contracted flea infestations over the years. How did this happen? We get critters in our yard, especially rabbits. Fleas love critters, especially rabbits. We figure we're bringing them in on our shoes or clothing. Maybe the dogs are too, although they're treated each month with Frontline and none have ever had fleas. So do keep an eye on the kitties, and go over them with a flea comb occasionally, especially if they're scratching.

We don't have carpets or rugs in the house. Still, we get fleas. I think that so long as you have rabbits around you're going to get them. A neighbor said a rabbit leaped at her dog and the dog came in the house with his face full of fleas. They're pretty good travelers.

Yes, you can bring fleas into your home. I use Cheristin on my own indoor only cats as well as when I have fosters. Advantage burned the skin on one of my cats. I like topicals better than pills but it can still be difficult. I sit on the floor with my legs stretched out or on my knees down low. The cat is going to automatically back up so putting him/her between your legs prevents them from getting away. Or wrap them up in a towel like a burrito, what we call a ā€œpurrito.ā€ One of my cats is even impossible to do it this way so I have to wait until heā€™s asleep, get the tube ready and sneak up on him.
